Review: Intangible by J. Meyers

Intangible
By J. Meyers
ebook, 340 pages

Twins Sera and Luke Raine have a well-kept secret—she heals with a touch of her hand, he sees the future. All their lives they’ve helped those in need on the sly. They’ve always thought of their abilities as being a gift.

Then Luke has a vision that Sera is killed. That gift they’ve always cherished begins to feel an awful lot like a curse. Because the thing about Luke’s ability? He’s always right. And he can’t do anything about it.

Where do I begin?

First, I want to say that I did not finish reading this book. Not because the story was bad, or that the characters sucked, but because the way it was put together.

Meyers has written a unique story with great characters, but I honestly had to stop reading more than half way. I kept finding myself going back a couple of pages to try and understand who’s head I was in, what was going on, if maybe I missed something. There was just way to many characters with voices in this story. One minute I was inside the head of one, the next I was in another. I also felt that certain parts needed a little more explanation, or a little more depth. I was enjoying myself one minute and then lost the next. I kept reading it though because I loved the characters and loved Meyer’s idea. I tried my best to keep up. The two main characters, Luke and Sera are twins. Their relationship was very moving. They were close and practically did everything together. Luke has visions of the future, and Sera has the power to heal people. I feel the story really kicked off when Sera healed a woman. By healing this woman Sera brought a lot of unwanted attention to her and Luke. This is also where new characters stepped in. While reading, once I figured out who’s head I was in it was so interesting. But eventually I got frustrated and put the book down. I normally don’t write reviews for books I did not read till the very end, but I felt I should since I did enjoy what I did read. I actually did find myself thinking about it every time I put it down. I was dying to get back to it, but it started to feel like I was trying and trying to finish it just because I liked the main idea. I just didn’t like how crazy it was with all the characters.

I might try to read Intangible again in the near future, and if I do I will write another review for you. I know crazy, right? Readers might be able to follow all the characters and not get confused like I did. Will I read any other books by J. Meyers? Heck yeah. I have Meyer's story Intuition and I am going to give that book a try.
