Sidenote: Pure is the 2nd novel in the Covenant series. The first was Half Blood. To read my review of Half Blood, click here. To read Damaris' review of Half Blood, click here.
If you liked Half Blood, you will absolutely LOVE Pure!!! After re-reading my review of Half Blood, I remembered that the one thing I had wanted more of was action. I wanted more fighting and gore, lol. And now...well, it's like Jennifer Armentrout wrote this book specifically for me! Pure is nothing but an action-packed, daimon-ass-kicking, whirlwind of excitement. Armentrout is such an amazing storyteller, with the ability to flip characters on their head so easily. One minute you're loving specific people, and the next minute you're hating them. It's incredible.
Me, personally, I was a huge fan of all the fight scenes (in case you haven't noticed yet, lol). I can already tell that some readers will say that the fighting was simply filler - a way to stop the story from moving forward too quickly - but I think it was absolutely essential. Our characters, Alex, Seth and Aiden are in the middle of a crisis here! Their world is being taken over by daimons and to not have tons of fight scenes would make you believe otherwise.
Now, as for the rest of the story: I loved every bit of it - yes, even the love triangle. I enjoyed feeling as if Alex would be good with either of the two guys, and wondering who she would choose in the end. Again, I feel that Amentrout does such a great job of showing you just how complicated Alex's life truly is. On the one hand, there's this love of her life - he's awesome and incredible. But on the other hand, there's this man that she's inevitably attracted to and who fate has deemed her "mate" - who also, as it turns out, is awesome and incredible. (Boy, don't we all wish we had these kind of problems! LOL)
Pure is filled with intricate loves, complicated familial ties and super-emotional friendships. There is excitement & sadness, happiness & rage and danger & death. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!!

I own .5 and 1 of Covenant series, and I can't wait to own Pure! I *need* to complete my collection! :) It'd be awesome to win this and I'm super excited for Pure.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I fricking love the covers, I saw the cover for the 3rd one and wow! I can't wait to see how more covers look. They're all so pretty!
I haven't read anything else by the author, but I will be checking out her other works after I finish with Pure. I don't want to jump between series too much within the same author! I learned my lesson with Cassy Clare and the MI/ID series, haha.
Thanks for the giveaway, my email is dontkillkittens8(at)netscape(dot)net
Oooh, awesome review! Right away, I became an instant fan of JLA and from here on out, I'll read anything that she writes! I am *dying* for Deity - thank goodness we don't have to wait *too* long! :)
