Blog Tour: Guest Post by author Katie Reus + Giveaway! (18+)

Thank you so much to the ladies at Good Choice Reading for letting me blog here today! Currently I’m in the middle of a blog tour and have been talking a lot about the paranormal (since my current release is full of paranormal goodness) but today I wanted to talk about distractions because we all have them! Here are some things guaranteed to drive me to distraction when I should be working (in no particular order).

1. Sunny weather. If it’s gorgeous outside, I have a habit of shutting down my computer and going for a walk, taking my little one to the park, or just getting some sun in the backyard. I’m all about the Vitamin D! Well, that’s what I tell myself. I actually just like it when I have a nice tan.

2. Twitter. I’ll get on twitter, scroll through my feed, see some cool links, click on those, get caught up in reading interesting articles or blogs and…a freaking hour has passed. An hour that I should have used writing. This actually extends to facebook too so I’ll combine FB and twitter into one giant distraction!

3. The phone. I tend to ignore my cell if I’m on a deadline but there are some people who when they call, I don’t ignore and they almost always call when I’m in the middle of a hot scene. I swear, it’s like they just know I should be working and are taking joy in distracting me. I should have more control and call them back later but sadly, I don’t. I blame caller ID.

4. Cleaning. This actually sounds like a good thing, but I can’t just clean one thing. And if my husband comes home and finds me cleaning like a crazy woman, he knows I’m avoiding working on a synopsis. I’ll tell myself that I just plan to fold and put up one load of laundry but that never happens. I’ll start putting my little one’s clothes up and then realize half the clothes in his drawer are too small and start cleaning them out. Then I’ll realize I need to dust his room which leads to the rest of the house. After that, sweeping and vacuuming inevitably follow and it just turns into this never ending thing.

5. My bike! This kind of ties into sunny weather, but when it’s nice outside, I love taking my bicycle out even if I should be working. This one isn’t actually a bad distraction because I enjoy it so much.

What about you? Do you have any activities or something that’s guaranteed to drive you to distraction? Two readers who comment on the blog today will be randomly selected to win a print copy of Alpha Instinct (US eligible only), the first book in my new paranormal series. Good luck and thanks so much for stopping by!

Alpha Instinct official blurb:
Fear has a scent. So does desire…

Ana Cordona has been a strong leader for the lupine shifters who survived after all the males and most of the females in her pack were mysteriously poisoned. As tough as she is, with no Alpha male, the pack is vulnerable to the devious shifter Taggart, who wants to claim both their ranch and Ana as his own. When Connor Armstrong comes back into her life, promising protection, it’s almost enough to make Ana forget how he walked out on her before—and reluctantly accept his offer to mate.

The minute Connor sees Ana again, it reawakens a raw hunger. He must have her for his bondmate—his wolf cries out for it. But his human side knows he must proceed with caution because of their complicated past. If he is to truly have her body and soul, he must go beyond his burning desire and win back her heart. Whatever it takes, he is determined not to leave her side again.

But Taggart and his rival pack are not their only enemies. A human element in town is targeting shifters. Their plan not only threatens Ana and Connor’s future, but the lives of the entire pack…

  3. Basically anything else I could possibly be doing. It's usually cleaning though because then I at least feel a little productive. That's when scrubbing the bathroom tiles suddenly seems like a wonderful idea, and I feel like I have all the energy in the world for it.

  11. A great distraction is my hubby! He is on 7 days and then off 7 days so when he is home all I want to do is hang with him and I get NOTHING DONE! Although he is fab about running errands with me. He doesn't care what we do as long as we are together.

  12. I think the internets is my biggest distraction, then some reading especially when I near the end of a book and then life goes and makes demands oh then I sure do pine for my read.

  13. For me it is also reading. I get so involved in a book that I tend to put off doing things around the house. I eventually do my chores, but it is sometimes just so difficult to put my books down. Thankfully I have a husband who is very understanding and doesn't mind that I love to read so much. :)

  16. I guess I have a couple of things that I can get real caught up in. First, I try to do scrapbooking. I love hoarding the paper, it's so pretty. I have tons and tons of papers. I can get all distracted from doing what I'm supposed to do and get all interested in the scrapbooking. The other thing is photography. Since the digital cameras, I can take as many pictures as I want and not worry about how much it will cost to get them developed. Just delete the ones that aren't very good. I belong to a photography club and we had an outing last week, and I took 300 pictures in two hours. But I got quite a few of very nice shots. Of course some were not as good as others but, that's the only way to learn. :)
Thanks for the chance to win.

  17. Yes, usually reading does it. Also, entering giveaways. I have a bad habit of not doing what I should be to enter them. It's very easy to get distracted that way.

  21. Hi there =) Your book sounds fantastic, thanks for sharing. I agree with the cleaning thing. I tend to clean also when I'm avoiding doing something....like my math homework...I've just recently went back to college and man I avoid all my math work...lol..cleaning also de-stresses me. One thing that I've found myself getting distracted with is these blogs ;) I'll find myself reading along and enjoying the blogs and a hour or two goes by...very distracting. Thanks so much for the giveaway.

  23. Hahaha, distractions. Wow I have a lot of them. I have three young kids, and once they go to bed I keep thinking I will have all this time to get things done. Then I clean up (I am with you, not entirely a good thing), but half way through that I will get the day care bag ready for the next day, then I check some email/blogs, then my husband will interrupt me with (himself) some random question...etc. Never ending, when all I really want to do at the end of the day is put up my feet and read a good book =)
Congrats on your release, and getting it done with all your distractions!

  28. Hmm let's see... reading is a big one, sometimes I try to read and listen to who ever called me on the phone but it doesn't work to good, and whenever I need a distraction from the stress of the real world I like to pick up a book and just take a mini-vacation. Also, entering for giveaways has distracted me a lot lately lol!

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!
