Selena Gomez Graphic Novel / E-Book Borrowing / Alternate Titles!

This Saturday we'd like to share THREE pieces of news for you....

SELENA GOMEZ' GRAPHIC NOVEL ON SALE!

Joining the likes of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez is now getting her own graphic novel, entitled Fame: Selena Gomez. And is it bad that I'm actually thinking of buying it? LOL

The book is available for pre-order right now on Amazon.com for $7.99, though there is no official release date as of yet.

I really like Selena Gomez, but I don't think this cover really looks like her - and personally, I'd rather see a little something more her age. But hey, a graphic novel is pretty cool too!

What do you think? Will you be pre-ordering this graphic novel?

E-BOOK LIBRARY BORROWING TAKES OFF!
Thanks to so many people receiving Ipads, Kindles and Nooks over the holiday season, the amount of people borrowing e-books from libraries has rocketed! It's making everyone wonder how libraries are actually going to keep up with demand.

E-book borrowing at some major public libraries more than doubled in December and January compared to one year ago - frustrating both borrowers and librarians.

A staff member at the Boston Public Library added that in the first half of January, more than 700 people a day tried to borrow an e-book, or added their name to a long waiting list for popular titles.

Unfortunately, some publishers are still un-willing to allow libraries to have access to the newest e-releases, or they're making libraries pay for a title after a certain amount of "lends", just as they would a regular paper copy. This is both costly for the library, and frustrating to readers.

What Are Your Thoughts on E-Book Borrowing?

Some Fun Alternate Titles!
I came across this article the other day and thought I'd share it with you. Did you know that there were many great books that either had different titles or were about to be named disastrous things?? Here are some fun ones:

* The Great Gatsby could've been: The High-Bouncing Lover or even On the Road to West Egg. Could you imagine??

* Of Mice and Men was originally named Something That Happened

* Jaws could have been Great White or The Summer of the Shark

* Gulliver's Travels was originally named Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World, in Four Parts.

* Jane Austen's Persuasion would have been named The Eliots, but she passed away before it was published. Persuasion was chosen by her siblings as the title.

Do You Like Any of the Alternate Titles Better?

  2. I think that ebook borrowing for the library is great!
I just signed up for it and borrowed The Girl Who Was on Fire. I hope that lines for borrowing books don't become too long, but it's all good if it gets more people reading!
