Aria is a teenager in the enclosed city of Reverie. Like all Dwellers, she spends her time with friends in virtual environments, called Realms, accessed through an eyepiece called a Smarteye. Aria enjoys the Realms and the easy life in Reverie. When she is forced out of the pod for a crime she did not commit, she believes her death is imminent. The outside world is known as The Death Shop, with danger in every direction.

As an Outsider, Perry has always known hunger, vicious predators, and violent energy storms from the swirling electrified atmosphere called the Aether. A bit of an outcast even among his hunting tribe, Perry withstands these daily tests with his exceptional abilities, as he is gifted with powerful senses that enable him to scent danger, food and even human emotions.

They come together reluctantly, for Aria must depend on Perry, whom she considers a barbarian, to help her get back to Reverie, while Perry needs Aria to help unravel the mystery of his beloved nephew’s abduction by the Dwellers. Together they embark on a journey challenged as much by their prejudices as by encounters with cannibals and wolves. But to their surprise, Aria and Perry forge an unlikely love - one that will forever change the fate of all who live UNDER THE NEVER SKY.

          My Review:

I am not into sci/fi books what so ever. I am pleased to say that despite this book being sci/fi-ish, I really enjoyed it. I have to admit at the beginning I was a bit confused and it was hard to follow due to the words they use to describe things such as the sky or a storm. Good thing I had Damaris to turn to, to ask for help. And as she explained to me, things got easier for me to understand. And once I understood, I was hooked. My love for Perry and Aria took me to the savage lands called the "Death Shop." I was sucked into their adventure.

After being blamed for something she had no part of, Aria was literally dropped off at the "Death Shop". A "Dweller" in a Savage Land can only be a recipe for disaster. She's not cut out for the world outside her realms. The life she grew up knowing was nothing like the life she was taught about the "Death Shop" So being dropped off at the "Death Shop" literally felt like death to her. How was she going to survive without any real knowledge of the outside world? Lucky or unlucky for her she met Perry. Though hesitant to take a journey with him, she was left without a choice. They both had something in common, their hunger to succeed on their mission, who made their adventure together even more intriguing.

Although I felt confused and lost in the beginning once I got past that, the story took me by storm. I was sucked in every funnel they went through, every fight they had. I felt the loss and passion they both felt. The story was very well written. I recommend anyone to read this book because of the depth of the story. The story behind the story is what keeps you reading and that's what I hope to get in the next book in series. A 4/5 stars and a definite Good Choice for Reading.

  4. I was also a little confused at first; I didn't feel hooked by the beginning. But once Perry and Aria were fighting with each other and then working together, I was drawn in. I especially liked the ending and imagining how that will lead into the next book.

  5. This one does sound interesting. I hate being confused by a book but if that confusion goes away then I would definitely like to read this book.

  6. Raquel- Thank you. It really was a good story. I enjoyed the story between the two main characters.

Nerdgirl- Oh thank you! I thought maybe it was me. But yes it was very confusing at first. But I did love the relationship development between the characters. She went from not trusting him at all to knowing that she he's not the savage her people made him out to be.

Bookworm- Sadly this makes me happy that I wasn't the only one confused. I also liked the fights between the two. I'm with you, I can't wait to read the second one now.

Nicole- Though in the beginning it's confusing, you can always reach out to those that read it to ask for a little clarity. It's a definite must read!
