Review: Truth By Julia Karr

Truth (XVI, #2)
***May contain spoilers if you haven't read the first book.***

Expected publication: January 19th 2012 By Speak

Nina Oberon’s life has changed enormously in the last few months. When her mother was killed, Nina discovered the truth about her father, the leader of the Resistance. And now she sports the same Governing Council–ordered tattoo of XVI on her wrist that all sixteen-year-old girls have. The one that announces to the world that she is easy prey to predators. But Nina won’t be anyone’s stereotype. And when she joins an organization of girls working within the Resistance, she knows that they can put an end to one of the most terrifying secret programs the GC has ever conceived. Because the truth always comes out...and the consequences can be deadly.

          My Thoughts:

I love this series. Julia Karr has hooked me since her first novel XVI. And I was privileged enough to get an ARC from "Around the World Tours." XVI was so intense (click on the link for the review), but if I thought XVI was intense, this book takes my breath away. Nina has been going through the worst time ever and in this sequel it goes from bad to worst.

Nina lives in a dystopian world. In this world, if spoken any word against the Governing Council, you unexpectedly disappear. The world Nina once knew is no longer how it is. She discovers her dad is alive and well and happens to be the person that is the Governing Council's public enemy number one. And her mother died for the cause, she found evidence about the truth behind the FeLS program. A program that allows tier one's and tier two's girl to go to a training sight in Mars, to earn a notch up on the tiers ladder. But instead of training these girls to become someone of themselves they use them as sex slaves.

In this sequel, much more happens. If you think that XVI was intense, Nina doesn't get a break whatsoever in this book. She goes from being comfortable with her grandparents and sister to having the rug snatched from underneath her feet. One negative thing happens after the other. She doesn't get a chance to breath before the next strike hits. Lucky for her she has great friends who back her up. I fell more in love with Wei and Chris in this sequel. This series wouldn't be the same without them. She also finds more strength when she joins a group with her friends that spread the "Truth" about the GC. And though Nina has a support team behind her, she has strong genes that don’t crumble. She stands up for herself, her family and friends. The action in this book is "ultra." (That's word is practically in every page.) This is a great sequel and I can't wait to read the next one.

A 5/5 Stars read and a definite Good Choice for Reading!!
