He’s saved her. He’s loved her. He’s killed for her.

Eighteen-year-old Archer couldn’t protect his best friend, Vivian, from what happened when they were kids, so he’s never stopped trying to protect her from everything else. It doesn’t matter that Vivian only uses him when hopping from one toxic relationship to another—Archer is always there, waiting to be noticed.

Then along comes Evan, the only person who’s ever cared about Archer without a single string attached. The harder he falls for Evan, the more Archer sees Vivian for the manipulative hot-mess she really is.

But Viv has her hooks in deep, and when she finds out about the murders Archer’s committed and his relationship with Evan, she threatens to turn him in if she doesn’t get what she wants… And what she wants is Evan’s death, and for Archer to forfeit his last chance at redemption.

          My Thoughts:

This book had me confused. Not because of the story. But because of my conflicted emotions. Kelly wrote her characters so well that you can understand why each one acts the way they do and the reason behind their actions, even Vivian whom I have no love for. The one part which has me conflicted is that I wanted Archer to have a happy ending despite the fact that he was a serial killer. But since Kelley did a good job writing Archer, you can't help but feel bad for him. And sadly I understand why he did the things he did. However I wouldn't want to have a friend like Archer. I don't think I can handle a friend like him. I wouldn't know how to handle the things he's done.

Archer has always been in love with Vivian. But Vivian has never really seen him as more than just a friend. Which sucks if you ask me, because Archer is devoted and loyal to her. I mean you can't get any more loyal than to kill for her. But instead of being a good friend in return and appreciating how Archer treats her. She's selfish and disloyal. She never takes Archer's feelings into consideration and she uses him as a back-up for when her relationships go sour. The relationship between Archer and Vivian is as toxic as they get. Which makes me so happy for Archer when Evan enters the picture.

Archer has never really had anyone in his life who puts his needs before theirs. That was until he met Evan.  For once, he had a friend that worried and genuinely cared for him. Someone who asked him how he feels and showed him that he cared rather than just telling him and not showing it. Evan happens to be my favorite character in this story. He has a genuine and kind spirit about him. He didn't judge Archer for his actions or try to change him. He stuck by his side regardless of the downwards turn Archer's life was going. Evan is definitely someone Archer needed in his life to show him love and kindness.

I really enjoyed this book. I was highly upset with Vivian and her selfishness. I hated to see the pain Archer was in because of someone like her. She didn't appreciate anything, whatsoever. She was a spoiled brat, who I wish I could say she had everything bad, coming to her. But that's not nice to say. So I won't. She's just not a nice person. Maybe Archer's life would have been different if she had been a real friend. But I fell in love with Evan, I loved how sweet and kind he was. He's the kind of guy you want at your corner. Need I say I loved this book? No. It's a really fast and sweet read. 5/5 stars! A definite Good Choice for Reading.

  5. I have this for review as well for later in December. It sounds so good but I am a bit worried because bitchy characters tend to take me out of the book a bit. But Evan sounds amazing enough to get me past it.
