REVIEW: Blood Will Tell by Samantha Young

Blood Will Tell by Samantha Young
Paperback, 273 pages
Published July 1st 2011 by CreateSpace (first published June 29th 2011)

Eden is a Soul Eater. While that hasn’t meant much to her in the past, she’s pretty sure any minute now she’s going to go all "Carrie" on her eleventh grade class.

Noah is an Ankh. As an immortal Warrior, his purpose in life is to hunt down and kill Soul Eaters.

Eden is Noah’s next assignment. Problem is… this is an assignment with a difference. Eden’s not your average, run of the mill, Soul Eater. Noah’s job? To test Eden for possible redemption.

It’s a risky business.

Especially if Noah awakens Eden’s inner monster.

It would be kind of hard for Eden to listen to the angel on her shoulder when the devil on the other is telling her, her new best friend is a lying, scheming, immortal enemy...

....betrayal is such a bitch.

So is Eden when you get on her bad side.

YA Paranormal Fiction for mature teens+ (some content may not be suitable for younger readers)

Okay, so this book has become my new obsession. This review is going to be short and simple, I loved it! Every single minute of it! I've never read anything like it and I promise you that you won't find another book similar to this one. It's so original with strong characters and a great story! There are some parts of the story though that isn’t suitable for teens, so I would say that this is definitely for the ages of eighteen and over.

Samantha Young touches some very raw and rough subjects in Blood Will Tell. Eden's father is psycho.  He's sick in every way and see's nothing wrong with what he does. Eden wants nothing to do with soul eating and tries to avoid becoming like her family. This becomes harder when Noah enters her life. His soul calls to her every time they are together. She wants to take his soul so bad, but every time she comes close she somehow gets control of herself. She has no idea that Noah knows exactly what she is and every time she comes close, he knows about it. There was a part in the book that made me want to break down and cry. When the truth about Noah and his family finally comes out, the things that go down was heart breaking. I felt every emotion Eden felt and wanted to cry with her.

Blood Will Tell was like watching a movie in my head. I cannot stress anymore how much I love this book. This is why sometimes I love reading books by self-published authors. They can cross the line and get away with it. To me this makes the book more believable. Now I am off to dive into the second book in the series, Blood Past. This was supposed to be a short and simple review, but I just have so much to say about it that I want to keep typing. If you've read this book already, send me a message. I would love to talk with others about it. So good!!!!! It’s worth rereading hundreds of times!

5 out of 5 Stars!

  3. Thank you for reviewing this book. I saw this on Goodreads and immediately put it in my to-read pile. Blood Will Tell sounds amazing and from your review I now know that it is. Especially the parts in the story that made you want to cry. I love a book that makes you feel exactly what the characters feel. I read in another review that this book is tied into Egyptian myths or gods? haha I can't quite remember what it was but it sounded really cool and definitely different. I so need to read this book I just know I will love it.

  11. I hadn't heard of this book, but the fact that you mention it was self published probably is the reason. It sounds interesting, but I'm not really into books that make me cry, so I'm iffy about this despite your positive review.

Acm05, I came close to crying, but didn't. My heart just broke into a million pieces for the main character, Eden. The way the author describes her emotions broke my heart. I felt every emotion! Trust me, you HAVE TO read this book!
