REVIEW: Blood Past by Samantha Young

Blood Past by Samantha Young
Warriors of Ankh #2
Paperback, 326 pages
Published August 17th 2011 by CreateSpace

All Eden wants is redemption... but the road to redemption is never an easy one.

Travelling to Scotland to find her mother’s bloodline, Eden is soon embroiled in the politics and training of the Scottish Warriors of Neith. It is a world where some stand with open arms ready to welcome her as family, while others keep a wary distance, conspiring against her. Through it all Eden learns of love, friendship, and what it means to be a warrior. Her future has promise... that is until a man she thought forever gone from her life returns to threaten it all.

When the one person Eden loves above all else is endangered, she will have to make a choice. Him... or her?

Life is such a bitch...

... but so is Eden when you don’t play nice.

YA Paranormal Romance recommended for ages 16 years and up.

I don’t know what it is, but I just cannot stop thinking about this series. Blood Will Tell was amazing, and now Blood Past was just as good, if not better. I enjoyed every single minute of it. Or should I say “word?” The minute I finished reading Blood Will Tell, I picked up my Nook and bought the second book in the series. I just can’t get enough!

Samantha Young has one imagination! Young doesn’t waste any time at all jumping right into the story. I love the fact that even though it’s so fast paced, she does an excellent job explaining things and putting everything together. Nothing felt rushed, and I wasn’t confused at all. I love the world Young pulled me into. It was very believable and full of action. The first book in the series was very dark and raw, but I feel that Blood Past is a little on the lighter side. There are still some very touchy subjects, but it’s not as raw as the first book. Eden is a very strong main character. Not once did her personality change throughout book one, or book two. I cannot even express how much I love the characters in this series. I just love everything about it, period.

If you love a dark, action packed story with a little romance, strong characters and unpredictable, then this is the series for you. The first book was fantastic, and Blood Past was even better!

You guessed it… 5 out of 5 Stars!

Now I am off to start the third and final book, Shades of Blood.

  1. Samantha Young does have a great imagination and I am totally drawn into the worlds she creates.

I agree completely! This trilogy is amazing. It's unique, different yet not at all confusing. I loved the characters especially Eden who was so conflicted but still a strong female lead. I think I need to re-read these books they were so good.
