Review: Shatter me By Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting asThe Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

          My Thoughts:

This book was so good. Every single page had me biting my lip just wondering what's going to happen next. Wondering if we (the readers) will get to find out why this is happening to Juliette. This book had me asking questions as to why couldn't she touch anyone? And how could someone live a life without the feel of a sensible touch or of an embrace.

Juliette spent 264 days in isolation, without speaking to anyone without breathing fresh air. All because she tried helping a little kid but instead with her touch, she killed the little kid. And because of that she was considered a murderer. Which is sad, because she's so far from that. She was a girl that people would pick on in school and was on the receiving end of bullying practically. But if one of those people that were mean to her needed something, anything and if she had it. She'll give it up with no hesitation. That's the kind of person she is. Had that been me, I would probably have to think three times maybe before doing something nice for them.

But suddenly after 264 days someone is thrown inside the cell with Juliette and none other than a boy. Which startles Juliette because she now feels that they put him in her cell to kill her. But that's just a test from the re-establishment to see if she'll commit "murder" again by her touch. However Juliette isn't the monster the re-establishment makes her out to be. So he was safe with her and are others for that matter.

The re-establishment has his their own agenda for Juliette. But slowly she uncovers lots of truth of the ways the re-establishment works. And she knows that she is not what they want her to be. This book kept me interested from the very first page. There's love and action that captivates you from the very beginning. I give this book a 5 stars and a definite Good Choice for Reading.
