Nimira is a music-hall performer forced to dance for pennies to an audience of leering drunks. When wealthy sorcerer Hollin Parry hires her to do a special act - singing accompaniment to an exquisite piano-playing automaton, Nimira believes it is the start of a new life. In Parry's world, however, buried secrets stir.
Unsettling rumors abound about ghosts, a mad woman roaming the halls, and of Parry's involvement in a gang of ruthless sorcerers who torture fairies for sport. When Nimira discovers the spirit of a dashing young fairy gentleman is trapped inside the automaton's stiff limbs, waiting for someone to break the curse and set him free, the two fall in love. But it is a love set against a dreadful race against time to save the entire fairy realm, which is in mortal peril.

You will absolutely fall in love with this fairy-tale, Cinderella-like story that has twists and turns in every page!

The story follows Nimira (Nim) - a young woman who has left her home in search of a better life - and she won't stop until she gets it. Unfortunately for her, she ends up singing and dancing for a living, with low wages and a controlling boss. It's a rotten life but Nim never complains. She's just constantly thinking of new ways to get herself out of there.

One day, Nim is asked by a wealthy gentleman if she would like to work for him - as a singer to accompany his new piano-playing automaton. And that's when the story truly begins.

As you're reading, you think to yourself, "Is she really about to fall in love with an automaton?!" And then at a certain point, when the automaton is about to be destroyed - you realize that you've fallen in love with him too. And you desperately want the two of them to be together. Thinking that these two people, who have been so misplaced from their worlds, could find each other and love each other, makes this book incredibly beautiful and heart-wrenching.

Magic Under Glass is funny, witty, fully of witches, ghosts, and lots of love. The writing is easy to read and fast-paced. Everytime I tried to put this book down, I would end up picking it right back up again because I found myself dying to know what was going to happen to our characters!

5 out of 5 stars!

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!!
