BLOG TOUR: Review of Tempest by Julie Cross (+Giveaway)

Hardcover, 352 pages
Expected publication: January 3rd 2012
St. Martin's Griffin

The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.

That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.

Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.

But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit… or kill him.

Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.

I think that the synopsis to this book explains it best. This is a MUST read and should be added to your To-Be-Read pile immediately. From page one until the very end you will go through so many different emotions, and long after you're done reading Tempest, you will still be thinking about this book.

The characters were very believable as well as the world Julie Cross pulls you in. I thought I would be a little lost with the whole time traveling thing, but Cross did a fantastic job explaining it all. What's even better is that you don’t have to go through tons of pages before everything is clarified. It starts off with a little action and throughout the whole book it continues with lots and lots of surprises. I was hooked from the beginning to end. So much so, that for two hours straight, I refused to use the bathroom just because I did not want to put the book down LOL. Do you feel my excitement here? This was a GREAT story! The main character Jackson was very well written and you can EASILY compare him to someone you know. He was super funny, a little sarcastic, and a romantic all in one. There really isn’t much more I can tell you that the synopsis hasn’t already other than that, Tempest is a definite MUST READ. There isn’t a boring moment in it.

Originally I was going to give it 4 stars because the ending did irk me a bit and I felt that after everything that happened, that was Jackson’s decision? But after writing this review though, I've realized just how much I love this book and how bad I want to reread it. Excellent!

5 out of 5 Stars!

And now... Here is a teaser from Tempest...
