Interview + Giveaway w/ Romance Author Cynthia Eden

Hi everyone!

I recently got the chance to interview Cynthia Eden about her new book, Angel of Darkness. I am really excited to share this interview with you all. Cynthia is also giving away an ARC copy of Angel of Darkness, the first in the series which will be released November 29th. Enjoy!

1.

1. What inspired you to write a book about Angels?

I love writing about different types of paranormal characters, and I’d never written about an angel.  I decided it was time that I corrected that situation. I love the power and the appeal of an angel, but I wanted to make my stories darker. So I got to work researching and experimenting, and my Angels of Death were born (okay, not born so much…). I didn’t want my angels to be about goodness and light, because sometimes, angels have to do vicious jobs.  So the angels in my story reflect the darkness of the world around them—they’re powerful and very, very dangerous.

2. How many books can we expect in your Fallen series?

Right now, I am writing book #4.  The current title line-up is:  ANGEL OF DARKNESS (book 1), ANGEL BETRAYED (book 2), ANGEL IN CHAINS (book 3), and AVENGING ANGEL (book 4). In the first 3 books, the heroes are the angels, but in AVENGING ANGEL, I give my heroine a chance to spread her wings (so to speak!).

3. Can you give us a sneak peek of Angel of Darkness?

I’d love to!! Thanks for asking.  J Here’s an excerpt for you:

***
“Who are you?”  She asked him, her face showing no hint of fear.
“I’m someone who’s been looking for you.” True enough. “For a very long time.”
She gave a little shrug. “And here it is, your lucky night. Looks like you found me.”
No, he hadn’t found the woman he’d expected.
“So what are you going to do now?” She murmured as she walked closer to him.  The moonlight spilled onto her face. His eyes narrowed. Her face that seemed a little thinner. Her cheekbones were more defined. Her eyes were still as wide and dark, but her lips appeared redder and plumper than before.  The woman was still beautiful, no doubt, but…a darkness seemed to cling to her.
Her body was as slender as he remembered. Her breasts still round and firm and her hips—no.  He shouldn’t be noticing that.  Her body didn’t matter.
“Like what you see?” She whispered and her slow drawling voice sounded like…
          Temptation.
          He backed up a step.
One black brow lifted. “Now, surely, you aren’t afraid of me.”
“I fear nothing.” After what he’d seen, what he’d done, there was simply nothing left to stir fear in his heart.
“Good for you,” she muttered and the words didn’t seem sexy. More…annoyed then. But then she blinked and the heavy-lidded mask came back.  “Tell me how you know my name.”
She was almost close enough to touch right now, but he wouldn’t touch her. No, he never touched. Touching was far too dangerous.
You didn’t touch unless you were ready to kill.  He wasn’t ready…yet.
“I’ve known your name for a long time.” No sense lying. Besides, lies weren’t possible for his kind. “Ever since you were put on my list.”
He heard the hard inhale of her breath.
“L-list?” Now there was fear flickering in her eyes. Her voice hardened as she said, “You’re one of them.”
          “Them?”  Curiosity stirred within him.
“A hunter.” Her bow lips tightened in distaste when she spoke the term.
But she was right. Now he was a hunter and she was his prey.
“I haven’t done anything wrong! I haven’t killed anyone—not since—” She broke off and tears filled her gaze. “I thought if I didn’t hurt anyone else, you were just supposed to leave me alone.”
He could only stare back at her.  “Leaving you on your own isn’t an option for me.”

4. You have more than one series you're currently working on, do you find it hard at times to focus on each series and not confuse the stories and/or characters?

It can be tricky!  I keep journals with all my character info and plot points to help me stay on track.  If I’m worried that I’m off-base, then I grab those journals as quickly as I can.  Since I’ve been writing, I’ve filled up over a dozen journals with my info.  They are *very* handy.

5. Have you ever considered writing a YA series? If so, what genre would you choose?

LOL, I actually have tried my hand at YA!  My agent has my story right now, so we’ll see what happens with it. Since I love paranormal stories so much, I had to write a paranormal YA.  One full of werewolves and magic.

6. Out of all the books you've ever written, which one was the most fun and your favorite of all?

This is such a tough question.  I don’t know if I actually have a favorite book because when I am writing, whatever book I am working on gets favorite status for me. I’m deep in the writing zone, I know my characters, and I love the story. But then I finish that book and start a new one…and that one becomes my favorite. It’s kind of an endless cycle of favorite stories.

Thank you VERY much for taking the time to interview me. It’s been a pleasure!
