REVIEW: UNEARTHLY BY CYNTHIA HAND (@cynthiahand @harperteen)

Hardcover, 435 pages
Published January 4th 2011 by HarperTeen
Series: Unearthly #1
Ebook Release Date - April 19, 2011

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans, but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

So I know that Damaris @GCR has already reviewed this book for you all - click here to check out her review - but since the Ebook of Unearthly is about to be released, and I just read it myself, I thought I'd give you my thoughts as well.

I loved, loved, loved this book!

From the minute you start reading Unearthly, you are immediately taken into this secret world that only you and a few angel-blood characters know about. I think that's what I loved the most - that on the outside, everything seems normal, but once you get to know more about angel-bloods, you just can't seem to get enough. Cynthia Hand's imagination is so creative, and so real, that you start wondering whether there aren't really angels living among us, lol.

Now, let's talk about my second favorite part of this book - the love triangle (of course, there has to be one!) It is amazing how much I fell in love with both Christian and Tucker. Normally, there's always one guy that you will love more than the other (and maybe you all will disagree with me) but I loved them equally. When Clara is faced with a literal life-or-death choice, I actually feel her pain. I wouldn't know what to do either!

I definitely recommend that all of you read this book and let me know your thoughts! I'm so excited that this is only one in a series, and I can't wait to find out what happens next. Let me know what you think!!!

5 out of 5 stars

  1. I knew I was going to like this book, but I had no idea just how much I would love it! Everything from the characters to the writing is fantastic! I'm definitely on Team Tucker, but Christian is a worthy challenger, haha. :-) Glad you enjoyed it!

  2. I totally agree -- this book was amazing. I think the characterization was the best part. Clara felt so REAL. I loved her -- she would make such a great best friend. I think I was more drawn to Tucker just because he broke the mold and wasn't that "mysterious gorgeous unreachable" boy type. I also loved how he acted like he hated her when really he liked her -- that's just such a guy thing to do. Like little boys pulling little girls' pigtails =D

  3. I agree with the boys, I really can't decide who I want her to end up with. I really love them equally!! I"m so glad I'm not having to make the decision between the two of them.
