This book really touched me. I am a mother and leaving this earth and my boys behind alone is something I will always fear.
After Creed's bestfriend and his wife pass away, Creed adopts their five year old boy and tries to give him a good life. The relationship between Creed and Matt was also very touching. Matt didn't know whether he should call Creed "Dad" or by his name, or Creed not knowing how to explain certain things to him without breaking Matt's heart or bringing his parents up. I got very emotional in the beginning of this book. The closer they got the more they felt like father and son. Also, for a five year old, Matt was very smart and very advanced.
Linda's writing was very simple and easy to follow. I found A Creed in Stone Creek to flow very smoothly. The only issue I had was that it lacked a little more romance. The romance in the story isn't as strong as I would have liked it to be. Yes, Melissa and Creed fall in love and immediately you can sort of feel their connection in the first chapter, but it wasn't the main focus in the story in my opinion.
I really did like Melissa and felt she was an excellent example of a strong woman. She does not need anyone to rescue her and when things get bad she always faces it and is still standing. Dealing with what she dealt with, some woman would lose themselves in pain and anger.
Creed and Melissa were perfect for each other, but I just wish there was a little more on them.
Overall, I give A Creed in Stone Creek 3.5 out of 5 stars! It's a great read for a rainy day or a nice day at the beach.
