Blog Tour: Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton & Giveaway! - CLOSED

Today we have a special post by author of Darkness Becomes Her, Kelly Keaton. We asked Kelly to share to her most embarrassing moment(s) and the best moment of her life. Here is what she had to say...

----------------------------------------------------
Most Embarrassing and Best Moment(s)
----------------------------------------------------

Embarrassing moments. I had to think about this because (thank you Powers That Be!) I don’t have a huge one that sticks out in my mind. I do, however, have lots of little ones… So I thought I’d share two of my finer moments:

1) I hit a cop car. This wouldn’t have made it on the list except for the location of said accident -- in the parking lot of the police station! J  I was actually going to town hall to pay my water bill and couldn’t find a spot in the regular lot, so I crossed over to the police station. I was in such a hurry after paying, I jumped in my Tahoe backed out and slammed into one of the cars. (There was a lovely impression of my bummer left in his trunk).

No one saw me do it, but I went into the station. There were four officers standing by the front desk. And I think I gave a little wave and said, “Hi. I sort of ran into one of your cars…” at which time, they all (I swear) blinked in incomprehension. Then, I had to explain further and lead them (and every single office in the station followed) into the parking lot to see my shame.

2) *sigh* This is so embarrassing!

I had this carpenter come over to my house to give me an estimate on building a new deck out back. His name was Clint. I knew his name was Clint. And after all was said and done, I shook his hand and said, “Thanks, Clit.”

Have no idea where that came from or why my brain suddenly took a detour way down south, but he didn’t miss a beat, bless him. J  So embarrassing, though, because he knew exactly what I’d said. We both knew.

So there you have it. I’m sad to say that these things are only the tip of the ice berg, but ones that come to mind right now. Just little moments, really . . . like the time my hair got caught in the bathtub drain and I was stuck in the bathroom forever calling for help, help that supposedly did not hear my cries over the television…

Anyway, onto the Best Moment of My Life!! (Which really isn’t one but two moments! I think all I need are pictures for this!) :-)

Thanks so much to Damaris and Good Choice Reading for letting me share!

~ Kelly

----------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you Kelly so much for sharing those moments with us! :-) Cute little angel you have!

You can find my review (Dee) HERE

Hardcover, 288 pages
Expected publication: February 22nd 2011 by Simon Pulse

Ari can’t help feeling lost and alone. With teal eyes and freakish silver hair that can’t be changed or destroyed, Ari has always stood out. And after growing up in foster care, she longs for some understanding of where she came from and who she is. Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued.

She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very...different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.

Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed.

Most embarassing moment: I entered the wrong car thinking it was our family car and the driver was still there! And I think the driver and I spent a good deal of 10sec looking at each other wondering what's happening. Ha!

Best moment: One of it will be when I first drove my car. :)

Well this probably isn't the MOST embarrassing but I found it awful... I was at an apple orchard with my parents and sister when I was about 5. We were in the shop buying pies and stuff. I went off to look at some other things while they paid. They then proceeded to leave... without me! They thought I was behind them, when really I was still in the shop. I got scared, but then I spotted my dad. I went over, took his hand, and started chatting about the orchard. Turns out that wasn't my dad! The man was very nice and started laughing, but I was so embarrassed I ran straight to the parking lot to hide behind a car!!

My most embarassing moment was when I was in high school and was on the bus for a track event. The guy I was totally in love with sat in my seat and started looking through my coat. And of course I had some feminine supplies in there.

  6. LOL this is fun!:D And awww, I can see why those are the best moments of her life!<3

So... I'm not sure it was the most embarrassing moment, but I'm still blushing when I'm thinking about it!:)) It was in high school: after a long hour of hard training and running, my legs went all jelly and I tripped on the stairs on my way to class and fall off right in the front of the coolest guy in school!:)) I was so shocked and embarrassed that I stand up and after a few seconds I went down again!=)))) OMG! It was just like in the movies, but in real life it felt so much worse! And you can imagine how disastrous a moment like that could be for your social life when you're a teen... Jeez!=))

Anyways, thanks for the giveaway and for making it International! I'm so excited about this book!

My acting career was over in second grade when I played a daffodil in the school play. The two foot poster board flower head fell off while I was acting, and the resounding laughter ruined me for any chance of every being on stage again, but at least the kids forgot about it (finally).

  8. One of many of my embarrassing moments: when I was a teenager I tried to leap over a chain that was across a driveway. I missed clearing it and landed flat on my face. My mom thought it was hilarious! Glad I could provide that moment of mirth for her :)

The most embarrassing thing that's happened to me was when I was little and we were walking out to our car from church and I thought my dad was beside me so grabbed his hand and started swinging it, I looked up and...it wasn't my dad it was stranger so I ran screaming to the car. LOL.

*Most embarrassing moment of my life:
I have many. A more recent one: you know how babies look practically genderless when fully clothed the first couple of weeks/months? During my pediatric internship I always checked on the chart before entering a patient's room and you can usually tell by the name. Except one time: I entered and started talking about how they could go home after I checked the baby (who's name ended on an 'A') and when the mother handed the baby over to me I exclaimed how it was such a beautiful little girl (it was a really pretty baby). That's when she informed me it was a boy...

    Most Embarrassing Moment:

Alright! So I normally don't tell people my most embarrassing moments in life but since I really want this novel I'll share.

My most embarrassing moment recently happened and took place in Drama Class of 40 students. Our teacher deicded that it was time to try some "real" acting and handed out lines. He told us that we would have 20 minutes to go over them and that no one was leaving the class room, only if the office called us down.

On that day I happened to be wearing a pair of white pants, my favorite, and I wandered up on stage, lines in hand, and stood in front of 40 other students. As I began my lines everyone started laughing, to my honorr, I had started my period.

  14. Oh! Poor Kelly! I hope he was HAWT at least!

My most embarrassing moment was when I was up in front of my college English class, presenting my latest essay...I had dropped a picture from the presentation, bent to pick it up...and split my pants right up the rear! The worst part of it was I had my back to the class...more specifically, one of the hottest guys there had a front row view...ugh!

    Thanks for the great event!

One of my most embarrassing moments would have been a day when hubby and the boys were headed out to do something, so I thought I'd take advantage of the time alone for a long shower and taking care of necessities (shaving, etc). I got undressed and realized there were no more towels in the bathroom, so I ran out to get some from the dryer, and the guys had come back home. While the boys thankfully didn't get an eyeful, hubby was wondering why I'd stripped down and was running through the house in my birthday suit.

One of my most embarassing moments was back in elementary school when I had this crush on a boy and I told one of my friends about it. Well she told his friends and they told him so at this point everyone knew. Then a couple days later the teacher decided to switch up the class seating plan and put us to sit next to one another. It was embarassing and awkard cause I knew that he knew and I ended up giggling liek crazy when that happened. Yeah it happened when I was a kid and I still remember it :P

  23. Hi there, the most embarrassing moment of my life was in high school, figures. I'm really shy and hate presenting. I've never been great at languages so taking Spanish was a chore. I had to give a presentation on a Spanish music group so I picked Santana and sent the weeks leading up to my turn to present freaking out. I managed to convince myself that all of the scenarios I'd dreamed up had to be worse than anything that could actually happen, boy was I wrong. When it was finally my turn to present, I forgot all of the Spanish I'd learn. I stood there, gaping like a fish for what felt like forever. Finally I managed to say a single sentence (it was supposed to be a five minute presentation). My masterpiece translated to: Santana is like magic. Thankfully, I'm able to laugh about it now!

  26. A couple of years ago I went to a house party with some friends. I guy I had had a crush on was there and actually came over to chat with me. I got so incredibly flustered and totally preoccupied by how hot I thought he was that my brain apparently turned into mush. So, while he's mid-story a friend of mine texts me to step outside the house because she's driving by and can't find parking. I excuse myself and head for the door still in a daze. I grab the door knob and PUSH the door repeatedly in an attempt to get out. A group of people standing close by see what I'm doing and simultaneously yell "PULL"...my crush turns around to look at me and starts chuckling. Luckily, my brain sputtered back into action and I managed to make a quick exit. So embarrassing!

My most embarrassing moment I think would have to be when my son heard a song a friend was playing by LMFAO called "I am not a wh**e" and my son repeated it. I asked him to stop saying that. Thought it was over with he wouldn't hear it again or repeat it. Yeah, I was wrong. We go into Wal-Mart and out of no where in the middle of the aisle in front of tons of people he starts singing and really loud, "I am not a wh**re, no no I'm not your Wh**e" I died!!!! lol

  30. Beautiful babies =) I have lots of embarrissing moments. One that has happened recently was when I was in WA. and there was ice all over, I mean all over. I was coming out of a grocery store and walked up to get in my car. Well I had a nissan xterra at the time so it sits high up. Well as I went to grab the door I stepped in slick ice...and slipped on my butt and slid up under my car. I've never been so mortified because everyone saw it. I also had FL. tags on my car so I'm sure they were really laughing. Thanks for the contest.

I have several embarrassing moments, but I think I will share this one, since someone else has children that do this...My ex-husband used to call Vienna Sausages - doggie peckers. That's what he would always say when someone was eating them. So, one day we are in Wal-Mart, getting groceries and one of my 4 kids starts saying, loudly, I want some doggie peckers...I kept telling them to be quiet, but they kept whining wanting doggie peckers...

  32. One of my most embarrassing moments was the time that I ran into a pole while looking in the other direction. Here's the full story: A cute boy had caught my attention across the street. He was running and I began to jog to keep up with him. Then WHAM! I ran right into a streetlight pole. I fell backwards onto the ground. And the boy crossed the street after hearing me slam into the pole to see if I was okay! He was really nice about it at least. I mumbled that I was fine and practically begged him to continue on his run. Ugh.

*Most embarrassing moment would be just a few months ago. Senior year of high school I quit the track team to join tennis. I am quite possibly the most uncoordinated person ever, so I should have known the outcome wouldn't be good. I made it through 90% of the season without winning a single match. Two weeks before the end of the season, I found myself winning an actual match. Of course that would be the perfect time for me to dislocate my knee cap. I was out the rest of the season and was the only person limping across the stage at graduation. Thanks again!

  37. Hi!

    setting:1. extra classes main entrance
    2. clothes dryer further in front of main entrance

    character: me
extra: few guys chatting in front of main entrance

Moment: I just finished extra classes and was exiting through the main door. As I land my right foot on the floor, I slipped straight on with my left foot still in place. I managed to barge into the guys chat on to the centre point of their group. Good thing the clothes dryer was there right infront, I managed to hold on to it, one of the boys was holding my arm with a concerned face and went "are you okay?"

I stood there for a second in a 'almost split [as in legs far apart frm each other] style' while holding on to the rails of the clothes dryer.

I just nodded and ran straight into the waiting car!

I also think I was in 'karate' pants,

once, when I was at still at school, our class went to visit a museum and while everyone were listening to the guide, I got a bit too interested to some exibit, lost my balance and banged my head right into the glass (it was very quiet there, so the sound was loud for everyone to hear, and turn to look around).

  52. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book! Thanks so much for the giveaway, crossing fingers and toes and making my kids cross theirs as well :) My most embarrassing moment. Jeesh where should I start lol, I have many. There are two that stand out in my mind
    1. I was in a car accident in h.s. and slammed on the brakes so hard my shoe actually cut into my ankle. I now have a very weak ankle and it gives out from time to time making me fall at random moments. It was dangerous when the kids were babies, but now everyone gets a good laugh at mommy falling. My most recent fall: We have a very steep driveway and our truck sits on it at an angle. We were taking a trip and everyone was outside ready to go and out I walk with the kids sunglasses and video camera in hand and I'm walking down hill to the trunk of the truck when my ankle gives way and down I go. Given the momentum of my going down hill, not only do I fall, but I end up rolling the rest of the way down the driveway where I caught the eye of all our neighbors and a car that was driving by stopped to ask if I was ok and all my kids were snickering, hubby included. I broke the video camera and all the sunglasses
    2. My husband is a pop fanatic and never drinks milk. Drives me nuts. I took him lunch to work once and wrote all over the water bottle I gave him. He wanted a pop, but instead I gave him a water bottle filled with milk and on it I wrote in big letters and black permanent marker: Drink your milk you skinny a** I thought it was funny and we laughed about it when he got home. Don't know how it happened, but somehow it got washed and put back in the cuboard. A week later, my son was late for soccer practice and while I was getting the younger two kids in the car I told my oldest to run back in and grab a water bottle. He did and we were all in such a hurry that my son didn't seem to notice what he grabbed and neither did I. You can see where this is going. I was mortified when I looked over at him during practice and saw him chugging his water and I could see the word a** in bold letters. My first thought was OMG, and I could see the coach looking at his bottle of water

My most embarrassing moment was when I was in highschool. My BFFs and I were secretly eating during class. Then, our English teacher suddenly called my name and ask me a question! I couldn't open my mouth because it was full of cookies! I had no choice but to answer her and I was busted. My BFFs and I laughed so hard after class :D Good times!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    * And telling us the most embarrassing moment of your life -
That would definitely be farting in church during a standing silent prayer. I couldn't stop it from happening! It was sooooo embarrassing.

    * And telling us the most embarrassing moment of your life: When I was walking with my friends, I was either reading on my phone or reading a book. I was walking and walking and I hit a pole, really hard. My friends laughed and none of them told me that I was going to hit a pole. :\ I was bruised!

  56. Well, I was hanging out with this guy that I had a major crush on, and we were getting ready to go roller skating. For whatever reason, I had decided to wear a skirt that day. (A very very bad idea) When I went to take a step off of the front porch, I slipped and fell, giving him a nice view of my underwear!

On the plus side, after he stopped laughing, he helped me up and held onto my hand the rest of the day.
