2 in 1 Review: Glimmerglass/Shadowspell by Jenna Black

For a while now I've been meaning to read Glimmerglass by Jenna Black, but never really got around to it. It was one of those "should I? Eh, I could wait" situations. Well, I recently received Shadowspell in the mail for review and had no idea it was the second part to Glimmerglass. So of course now I had a reason to buy it LOL.

At first I found the story to be a little unreal. I can't really explain it, but to me Glimmerglass didn't start off to a good start. It wasn't until like the forth chapter that things really kicked off and got my full attention. So for those who have not read Glimmerglass, my advice is...Keep Reading!

I was hooked to the pages once Ethan and Kimber entered the picture. They were both so mysterious and funny. Dana arrives at Avalon in search of her father not knowing that the minute she steps foot into Avalon, she becomes a target and gets tangled into a whole mess of fae politics. She can't really trust anyone but herself. She learns so much about herself, like the fact that she can walk through both worlds and probably the only one who can kill the queens. You know things her mother kept from her for a good reason LOL. As she continues her path in Avalon and learns their ways, she is also very drawn to Ethan. Who has his little secrets too.

Glimmerglass had so many twist and shocking moments in it that I just couldn't wait to read Shadowspell and find out what happens next.

The story in Shadowspell takes right off pretty much where it left off. Ethan and Dana's relationship was very interesting, since according to Dana they weren't in a relationship lol. Ethan is so cocky and knows exactly what he wants and that would be Dana. Only she still isn't sure if she can trust him after everything that has happened. I actually enjoyed Shadowspell way more than Glimmerglass. Glimmerglass was more like an introduction to the world, characters and lifestyle of the fae.

I find the world Jenna Black has created to be very unique. Out of all the books I've read, never have I read one similar to Jenna's Faeriewalker series. Everything stuck out to me. I loved the characters, the plot, and the direction the story is going (Yes, there will be a third book). And I cannot forget Ethan *swoon*, he is just so sexy and dark... who wouldn't like him?

Glimmerglass and Shadowspell are both full of a little romance, action, mystery and twists! They were both a great read and kept me glued to the pages. I am happy I finally picked up the series and I wasn't disappointed! Now the wait for Sirensong, the third book in the series. *sigh*

Glimmer Glass: 4 out of 5 Stars
Shadow spell: 5 out of 5 Stars

Released: May 25, 2010
St. Martin's Griffin

It’s all she’s ever wanted to be, but it couldn’t be further from her grasp…

Dana Hathaway doesn’t know it yet, but she’s in big trouble.  When her alcoholic mom shows up at her voice recital drunk, again, Dana decides she’s had enough and runs away to find her mysterious father in Avalon: the only place on Earth where the regular, everyday world and the captivating, magical world of Faerie intersect. But from the moment Dana sets foot in Avalon, everything goes wrong, for it turns out she isn't just an ordinary teenage girl—she's a Faeriewalker, a rare individual who can travel between both worlds, and the only person who can bring magic into the human world and technology into Faerie.

Soon, Dana finds herself tangled up in a cutthroat game of Fae politics. Someone's trying to kill her, and everyone seems to want something from her, from her newfound friends and family to Ethan, the hot Fae guy Dana figures she’ll never have a chance with… until she does.  Caught between two worlds, Dana isn’t sure where she’ll ever fit in and who can be trusted, not to mention if her world will ever be normal again…

Expected publication: January 4th 2011
St. Martin's Press
On top of spending most of her time in a bunkerlike safe house and having her dates hijacked by a formidable Fae bodyguard, Faeriewalker Dana Hathaway is in for some more bad news: the Erlking and his pack of murderous minions known as the Wild Hunt have descended upon Avalon. With his homicidal appetite and immortal powers, the Erlking has long been the nightmare of the Fae realm. A fragile treaty with the Faerie Queen, sealed with a mysterious spell, is the one thing that keeps him from hunting unchecked in Avalon, the only place on Earth where humans and Fae live together. Which means Dana’s in trouble, since it’s common knowledge that the Faerie Queen wants her – and her rare Faeriewalker powers – dead. The smoldering, sexy Erlking’s got his sights set on Dana, but does he only seek to kill her, or does he have something much darker in mind?
