Halloween Spooktacular Giveaway (Part Six)!

Hello everyone!

We have reached PART SIX of our Halloween Spooktacular Giveaway! We want to say thank you to everyone who has joined us these past couple of weeks and are helping us celebrate Halloween! This week we were lucky enough to interview author of The Ghost and The Goth, Stacey Kade.

Enjoy! :0)

How did you come up with the idea of The Ghost and The Goth?

SK: Honestly, I have no idea! One day, I just heard the phrase in my head, "Staring up at the undercarriage of a bus is no way to spend your afterlife." And it all just kind of grew from there.
Do you believe in Ghosts?

SK: I think there is much more to existence than what we can easily see and hear. So, yep.

Was it hard coming with the characters Alona and Will?

SK: Actually, the hardest part was that I'd originally tried to make it only his story or her story. One main character. But then after I struggled with it for awhile, I FINALLY figured out that it needed to be both of them as main characters, not just one or the other. Other than that, I mostly just tried to stay out of their way--especially Alona's! :)

How many books can we expect in the series?

SK: It's a trilogy, so two more stories in the series. Queen of the Dead is the next book, and it will be out in June 2011.

What was the most challenging thing about writing The Ghost and The Goth?

SK: Figuring out whose perspective to use for each of the main story events. Should this be an Alona chapter or a Will chapter, you know?  Rule of thumb suggests that whoever has the most to lose in the scene should be the POV (point of view) character, but sometimes, as we all know, it's harder to watch someone else struggle than it is to struggle ourselves.

Finally, can you tell us what your Halloween is like? What do you look forward to the most on Halloween?

SK: Halloween is a little crazy around our house. We have three greyhounds who LOVE running to the door whenever the doorbell rings. So typically, one of us has to hand out candy and the other has to wrangle the dogs. I love seeing all the creative costumes--that's probably my favorite part.
