Original title: The Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)
Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.
When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: Jem, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa.
As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Review:

I have to admit that after reading all the early reviews on Clockwork Angel and all the hype about it I just could not wait to get my hands on a copy. I will say though that I was a little afraid that once I did get a copy and read it, that it would let me down. You know how everyone gets so excited over somet
hing and then once you get it sometimes it can be a let down? Well not Clockwork Angel. All the hype and great things that was said about it was all true!

I loved it & more! It was so nice to get pulled back into the world of Shadowhunters. The characters were amazing!

Tessa has such an amazing power and I wish I had her ability to change into any person. She was a sweetheart who got sucked into a world of magic, evil and creatures she had no idea what even existed.

Then you have William, who is not really afraid of anything and is good at what he does. Destroying demons. Will has such a huge ego and does not really care if he hurts your feelings or not. Or at least he does not show it. I loved everything about Will though. I am definitely a Team Will girl! What can I say though, I love bad boys! <3

Then there is Jem who is such a sweetheart and would make any girl happy. But to me he was more like a big brother. A fighter, but with a soft side.

In Clockwork Angel you meet a lot of new and old characters. Now keep in mind this story takes place before City of Bones, but you do not have to read City of Bones in order to read Clockwork Angel.

The only similarities I found between Clockwork Angel and The Mortal Instrument series are some of the characters and the world they live in. I felt that Will, Tessa & Jem were nothing like Jace, Clary & Simon.

Cassandra Clare has written another GREAT story full of some of our favorite paranormal creatures, action, suspense and of course sexy hot fighting boys. :0)

I love it and cannot wait for the next book in the series. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book! A MUST READ!
