Review: Matched by Ally Condie

Hardcover, 384 pages

In the Society, Officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It’s barely any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one . . . until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path no one else has ever dared follow—between perfection and passion.

Matched is a story for right now and storytelling with the resonance of a classic.

So I signed up to review Matched on an ARC tour. I was really excited to get it and read it. It has so many good reviews and everyone talks about Matched and how bad they want to get their hands on it.

Well for me, Matched was Okay. I actually did not finish reading it, but that does not mean that I hate it. I just could not get into the story. At some points I was so into it and then I lost interest. The only times I was into it, was when Xander or Ky were in the picture.

The reason I gave it three stars is because I love Ally's writing style. Though the story was not for me, she has a way of writing. I liked the way she would describe Cassia's emotions towards her friends and family. I also liked the world Ally created and found myself wondering at times what I would do if we lived in a world like that.

Please keep in my mind that I am not trying to come off as a bad review because the book was not horrible. Like I said, it just wasn't for me.

Lisa will be reading this next so look out for her review :0)

  5. Hate it when you just can't get into a book! But you weren't that excited about it in the first place, so at least it wasn't a huge disappointment, right?

I think I'm supposed to be getting a copy of this in the mail. I wonder what I'll think? Hm....

  14. You should try to finish reading it because it gets really interesting at the very end! It makes you want to pick up the next book to see what happens. Condie is good at leaving a cliffhanger!
