Review: 13 to Life By Shannon Delany

Something strange is stalking the small town of Junction…

When junior Jess Gillmansen gets called out of class by Guidance, she can only presume it’s for one of two reasons. Either they’ve finally figured out who wrote the scathing anti-jock editorial in the school newspaper or they’re hosting yet another intervention for her about her mom. Although far from expecting it, she’s relieved to discover Guidance just wants her to show a new student around—but he comes with issues of his own including a police escort.

The newest member of Junction High, Pietr Rusakova has secrets to hide--secrets that will bring big trouble to the small town of Junction—secrets including dramatic changes he’s undergoing that will surely end his life early.

So I finished this book two nights ago and I have to say that I did enjoy it, but it just felt like something was missing. I am all for forbidden love and struggling with emotions, but to me this book took way to long to get to a little action and Pietr and Jessie don't really get together. It's like they are and they aren't and maybe that was what was missing.

It was good enough for me to finish and kept my attention with all the mystery about Pietr and his family, but would I ever re-read? No. Would I recommend? Yes, if you are looking for a simple and fast read. It was just in the middle for me. I give it three stars.

  1. I read the prequel to this and could not wait to read this, but due to so many other books for Kindle that are cheaper, I've been putting it on the back burner. Maybe I can wait longer than I thought if this isn't quite as exhilarating as I'd hoped! I'm happy to have found a review of this before I bought it!

  3. I liked the book, but I did feel it was a little too twilightly...the boy always saying he couldn't get close to the girl and all that...

  4. I have had this on my TBR but it keeps getting bumped for other things that come up. I don't feel too badly now since you feel like something was missing, maybe I'll add it in this summer on vaca when I can read more then normal.

  8. I appreciate the review. I had this on my list to read because it sounded intriguing. Now I can sve myself the effort. I dislike slow-moving
    and, seemingly, incomplete stories.
    Thank you

  9. I really want to read this series. I was honored to read The Weather Witch, which I truly loved, although there were mixed reviews on it.
