Review: Heavenly by Jennifer Laurens

I met someone who changed everything. Matthias. My autistic sister's guardian angel. Honest. Inspiring. Funny. Hot. And immortal. That was the problem. What could I do? I did what any other girl would do-I fell in love with him.
Zoe's sister darts in front of cars. Her brother's a pothead. Her parents are so overwhelmed; they don't see Zoe lost in her broken life. Zoe escapes the only way she knows how: partying.

Matthias, a guardian sent from Heaven, watches over Zoe's autistic sister. After Zoe is convinced he's legit, angel and lost girl come together in a love that changes destiny.

But Heaven on Earth can't last forever.

Zoe loves her little sister Abria. But having an autistic sister who constantly is running off getting lost and unknowingly putting herself in danger on a regular basis, is very stressful. Zoe often felt resentful towards Abria because she required so much attention from her parents. To deal with it all Zoe turns to drinking and partying. She seeks out boys to "hook-up" with, but what she really wants deep down is to fall in love and be loved in return.

One afternoon, Zoe takes her sister to the park to play. She turns her head for a brief second to text her friend, and in the next instant Abria is gone. Frantic to find Abria, Zoe is running around screaming her name. Suddenly a boy that appears to be about Zoe's age, comes walking up to her carrying Abria. Grateful yet suspicious, Zoe looks into the beautiful eyes of Matthias and from that point on her life changes forever.

When she learns that Matthias is her sister's guardian angel, she becomes more and more drawn to him. Besides her sister, Zoe is the only person who can see Matthias and talk to him. And even though her head tells her there is no future with loving Matthias, Zoe can't help but fall deeply in love with him.

As Matthias opens up to Zoe about his human past and they grow closer, she finds that the thrills of drinking and partying don't compare to the feelings she has when they are together. She sees her sister in a new light and for the first time looks at her life a whole lot different too.

There are plenty of books out there that I have enjoyed reading. However, this book is definitly in my top five favorites of all time. My favorite books are the ones that have a compelling love story and keep you captivated til the very last page. That is how it was with Heavenly, one hundred percent. It's hard to find words to describe how great this book is. Every time I think about it I smile. I just completely and utterly loved it! Matthias reminded me a lot of Edward from Twilight. The author has a way of pulling you in, and keeping you turning pages. I devoured it, now I'm hungry for more.....book two, Penitence!
