Review: Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shape shifters.

By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tag along ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

My Review:
Getting straight to it... I LOVE THIS BOOK! I was trapped in this book! I started this book yesterday at about 3pm and finished it at 2am. I just could not put this book down and when I did all I did was hurry things up so I can get back to it. I LOVE IT!

It had a couple of twist in it that I did not see coming at all. And Archer, WOW! Who can't love your average bad boy full of mystery? Sophie begins hating him and then slowly begins to hate herself for being like every other girl crushing on the popular guy. Archer, who pretty much was dating her enemy, slowly begins to feel the same. Rachel Hawkins gives you just the right amount of Archer and Sophie, but she does not waste page after page on them. She gives you just enough to still be able to fall in love with Archer and Sophie.

Now don't get me wrong, I love a good love story, but I found myself actually more excited to find out what happens with Sophie. She was very funny and not really afraid of any of the other students. She did not really let anything faze her and if it did she hid it well. One of my favorite quotes from the book is when Sophie says to her mother:

"Good luck explaining to God that you used to spank one of his heavenly beings."

I burst out laughing when I read that. Sophie is so easy to like and relate to. I think I will stop here though because I find it very hard to talk about a book I loved so much without giving EVERYTHING AWAY!

This is a must, MUST, MUST read! :-)
